Have you over indulged on mince pies? Are you fed up watching the usual Christmas repeats? Perhaps you're now bored with the new play station? Want to give the brain cells some exercise but not the body? Well here is a short challenge which is based on the Christmas theme of Dartmoor. All you will need is an Ordnance Survey 1: 25,000 map of Dartmoor, a pencil and a ruler. Simply plot out the following route by solving the Christmas related clues - simple. The actual route is 70.3 miles and takes you up hill and down dale as can be seen from the profile below:

1) Find a very appropriately named tor for the season.

2) From here travel in a north westerly direction for about 1.7 miles to a place where one may well expect to find one half of a well known Christmas carol.

3) From here you need to travel about 5.15 miles to a farm whose old name would suggest that it would make a good source for a well known Christmas tradition.

4) 'Christmas is a coming...' but this one seems too angry to gain any of the extra yuletide pounds. It's about 8.1 miles from your previous destination.

5) Did he go out on the feast of Stephen in a north westerly direction for about 3.7 miles, if so, do the same and go to an appropriately named tor.

6) Next travel for about 8.2 miles in a southerly(ish) direction to the top which in a well know carol was part of a very quiet night.

7) The next port of call is where you might expect to see a trio of intelligent men preparing their Christmas dinner, it's about 7.83 miles in a northerly direction from the previous place.

8) Now locate a place that is roughly 5.27 miles away in a south easterly direction. Here you will find three of the 'leapers' missing.

9). Now find a stone that stands on what sounds like a very snowy waste and lies in a north westerly direction from the previous destination and is about 10.6 miles away.

10) Here you may well expect to see the star of a favourite Christmas story and it may be the dickens of a job to find it, but don't ask for any more clues.

11) Now head off in a south easterly direction where you would expect to find them watching their flock by night, its about 6.63 miles away.

12) Finally, go north west for 8 miles to where you will find a building that is dedicated to Mary.
