SITE ADVERTISING

Regular visitors to this site may have noticed over the last month that adverts have begun appearing on many of the pages in various forms. When I started compiling Legendary Dartmoor there were two main aims, firstly to provide a free resource about Dartmoor and secondly not to include adverts in any form. That was two years ago and since then this site has grown to over 500 pages which has taken a great deal of time and expense to achieve. I am well aware that this has been my choice and that nobody has asked me to undertake such a project but nevertheless this website has evolved into what you see today. Nearly every week I get requests from people asking if they can use some content or images for various articles, books, adverts etc, which I have always readily agreed to at no cost. In return, I have in a few cases recieved a link or a bibliographical reference and in many others not so much as a thank-you. Every page on this site has involved time spent in research, design and authorship, many pages have involved trips to Dartmoor to get photographs and information. All of which cost money, the internet host is soon going to increase to £120 a year, the subscription to an image bank is £80 a year and a trip to Dartmoor averages out at £29.50 in diesel and so on and so forth.

It was recently pointed out to me that I have a 500 page website with a Dartmoor Google ranking of about 5th that recieves roughly 1,000 unique visits a day. There are over 600 links to Legendary Dartmoor on various other sites or blogs and all in all it is a worldwide platform for advertising. Therefore, I have decided in order to recoup the running costs to start placing adverts on the site where appropriate. Wherever possible they will promote Dartmoor/Devon/UK businesses and provide a platform for their products and services. So please, click on an advert if it interests you.

Should you have a business that you would like to promote on any of these pages please do not hesitate to contact me with your ideas and requirements.
